Steve Terry Speaks at The MADD Minnesota Statewide Recognition Ceremony

TSR Injury Law supports Minnesota MADD. Every year, MADD recognizes law enforcement, members in the legal community and first responders whose efforts have made a difference in protecting Minnesotans from drunk drivers. Partner Steven Terry was honored to speak at a recent event. As a decade long MADD board member, Steven has provided both financial help through the Firm as well as hundreds of hours of volunteer service. TSR Injury Law is proud to honor law enforcement and legal members who make a difference in this worthy cause.

ADAPT program of MN

TSR Injury Law is proud to support the ADAPT program. ADAPT stands for “After Deployment: Adaptive Parenting Tools” The University of Minnesota conducted research and implemented ADAPT to help military veterans return to home life. Researchers strive to learn about family resilience when dealing with deployment of one or both parents, and to provide a practical method for improving parenting skills during a stressful, difficult period.

All families deal with stress as a normal part of day-to-day life, but when a parent is deployed for months or a year at a time, the stress can be tough on families. And when parents get stressed, conflicts within the home can easily escalate. Through Project ADAPT, military families are offered parenting tools and techniques to respond more effectively to the emotions that stress generates.

Greg Coleman Golf Tournament Sponsors

TSR Injury Law is a main sponsor of the Greg Coleman Celebrity Golf Tournament. Famed Minnesota Viking punter Greg Coleman has raised money for worthy causes for over 20 years. In the last few years, the cause has been the Minnesota YMCA. Greg brings in many famous past and current sports figures to golf with over 250 participants.

An auction, dinner and evening presentation end the day for this great cause. Funds raised support Minnesota YMCA. The YMCA has many local community locations and all of them are supported. The golf event always starts with YMCA inner city kids being given a chance to learn from golf pros and experience the game of golf.

Most have only heard of the sport and their indoctrination opens future avenues as they gain life experiences. The funds raised allow YMCA to prepare kids for life. Safe areas are provided within each community. Classes taught range from healthy eating to ethical leadership skills to better our world.

MADD Minnesota Sponsor

TSR Injury Law sponsored a recent MADD Minnesota Statewide Recognition Ceremony. As an event sponsor, Steve Terry was asked to speak at this ceremony, which recognized individuals and police departments committed to the Mothers Against Drunk Driving mission. MADD’s mission is to the stop drunk driving, support the victims of this violent crime, and prevent underaged drinking. TSR Injury Law supports the mission of MADD and has been a financial supporter of MADD Minnesota for many years.

About MADD Minnesota

Mothers Against Drunk Driving is a non-profit organization comprised of victims, families, and dedicated citizens who are willing to volunteer of their time and energy to prevent drunk driving in order to reduce the number of:

  • crashes;
  • injuries;
  • deaths; and
  • families torn apart by accidents.

MADD also:

  • provides support to victims;
  • attends victims’ DWI trials and hearings upon request;
  • advocates for stricter drunk driving legislation;
  • conducts public awareness events;
  • provides speakers for community and school events; and
  • implements prevention programs.

Additionally, MADD:

  • offers self-help support groups for victims;
  • helps victims understand the legal process;
  • helps prepare victim impact statements for hearings;
  • provides information and referral for services needed by victims; and
  • provides training programs for victims to empower them to help other victims.

Victim Impact Panels

Victim impact panels provide an opportunity for victims to tell their story and share their feelings of how drunk driving has impacted their lives. These personal stories humanize the crime for offenders and teaches offenders the short and long-term effects of their crime on real people. By telling their stories, victims also hope to influence offenders to become more responsible and accountable for their behaviors. For more information on victim impact panels and when they are scheduled, go to www.maddmn.org.

TZD – Toward Zero Deaths

The Toward Zero Deaths approach is based on the belief that even one traffic-related death on our roads is unacceptable. This “zero deaths” idea was first adopted in Sweden in 1997 as “Vision Zero” and since then has evolved to several state DOTs, including Minnesota, that have identified zero deaths as a core objective in their Strategic Highway Safety Plans.

TZD uses a data-driven, interdisciplinary approach that targets areas for improvement and employs proven countermeasures, integrating application of education, enforcement, engineering, and emergency medical and trauma services (the “4Es”). A combination of strategies from different focus areas is often most effective for solving a particular problem.
