Our firm participated in and donated to a community fundraiser for a non-profit called We Push for Peace on Monday night. The organization is raising money for its CDL program, which provides free training for at-risk young people to help them earn a Commercial Driver’s License. Donations help the organization purchase trucks, pay instructors, and rent space for equipment for practice and training.

We Push for Peace was started by Trahern Pollard to advocate for and be a resource to those in the inner city, including local businesses and youth. The organization owns and operates Xavier’s Employment and Training, which serves underprivileged youth between 16 and 24 years old.

We Push for Peace also provides:

  • Mental health assessments and resources
  • Employment assistance, including resume development, mock interviews and job placement
  • Pre-employment training

The March 2021 edition of the MADD MN Victim Services Newsletter featured an interview with TSR partner and co-founder Steve Terry. He discussed the benefits of hiring an attorney after being the victim of a drunk driving crash and other issues surrounding impaired driving crashes.

If you were injured in a drunk driving crash, or a loved one was injured, TSR Injury Law may be able to assist you. Schedule a free consultation to learn more.

Why Do Injury Victims Need an Attorney?

It is important to understand the civil process after a drunk driving crash is very different from the criminal one. In the question and answers feature, Steve Terry explains what a civil attorney does, such as making sure insurance companies act ethically and fairly. Civil attorneys are seeking proper compensation for the victim.

Terry discusses how the best personal injury lawyers have extensive knowledge of the legal issues that may arise, including but not limited to:

  • Health insurance subrogation
  • Schmidt notices
  • No fault stacking
  • Joint and several liability

Can Bars Be Held Responsible for Drunk Driving?

In Minnesota, it may be possible to hold a bar liable for a drunk driving crash victim’s injuries. However, building a case can be difficult, as attorneys must quickly interview witnesses, obtain video footage and determine the driver’s blood alcohol level. If you take too long to hire an attorney, it may not be possible to build an effective case against the bar that served the drunk driver.

How Do You Pay for an Attorney?

Unfortunately, many people do not understand how personal injury lawyers get paid. TSR, like many personal injury firms, operates on contingency. That means no upfront costs – our lawyers do not get paid unless you do. The initial consultation is also free of charge.

What if the Drunk Driver Has No Insurance?

Minnesota requires all drivers to have uninsured motorist coverage for these situations. However, there may still be insurance on the car that your attorney can seek compensation from. For example, the owner of the car may have insurance, or someone else in the household may have coverage that applies.

Current image: Revised Mn Golf Tournament Social

The MnFORE Golf Tournament went on yesterday at the Bearpath Golf & Country Club, starting at 10:30 a.m. TSR Injury Law sponsored a hole at the tournament. Proceeds go to benefit programs that are meant to help firefighters and their families.  As first responders, they often have the worse on job injuries and long term health issues.

TSR attorneys Erik Willer, Patrick Kranz and Michael Joyce (pictured from left to right) were in attendance.

In addition to 18 holes of golf, there was a silent auction and dinner and awards at 6 p.m., following the end of the silent auction. There was a limit of two mulligans per golfer, but mulligans could not be used on holes that were part of the contest. Golfers could purchase additional mulligans with a donation when they registered.

The tournament was originally supposed to happen earlier this year but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Thank you to all who donated to support such a worthy cause.

At TSR Injury Law, we not only help injury victims in our community with their legal needs, we also make sure to try to give back to the communities where we live and work.

Last week, members of our legal team volunteered with the organization We Push for Peace. We gave our employees the option of a paid day off to go out into the community and volunteer. We donated food and hygiene supplies, packed them up and gave to those in the community who are in need.

We Push for Peace is a nonprofit started by Trahern Pollard to advocate for and be a resource to people in the inner city. Lately, this organization has been continuing to help those affected by COVID-19 while pushing for the justice, accountability and change the community needs in the wake of the death of George Floyd.

TSR Injury Law Support Hunger Solutions Minnesota During COVID-19 Pandemic

Current image: Stack of Takeout Boxes Social

Our firm is supporting Hunger Solutions Minnesota, which is the only anti-hunger organization providing services in every county in the state. Organizations like these are critical right now, as millions are unemployed or are unable to work and may be struggling to provide food for themselves and their families.

As our social safety net is challenged because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hunger Solutions Minnesota and other organizations like it become extremely important.

About Hunger Solutions Minnesota

Hunger Solutions Minnesota works with the state and federal government to support programs tackling hunger on a large scale. This includes working with food banks that distribute food. This organization also works to connect hungry people with local help.

Thank you to these organizations and the individuals on the front lines during this crisis.

Supporting World Central Kitchen During the Pandemic

Charities and non-profit organizations are very important during a large-scale crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic. For example, World Central Kitchen is working to safely distribute fresh meals to communities that need support.

TSR Injury Law is proud to support this organization’s efforts to help provide food to communities in need. Safety nets, like school feeding programs, city services and food banks, are struggling mightily during this crisis. This is where charities and non-profits can step in to help make a difference for seniors, hospital workers and others in need.

World Central Kitchen (WCK) is working in dozens of cities providing more than 160,000 fresh meals each day. This organization is also providing jobs to restaurant staff who are out of work. WCK has committed to buying one million meals from local restaurants and delivering those meals directly to those who need them.

TSR would like to thank World Central Kitchen, and the other people and organizations working to help everyone through this difficult time.

TSR Injury Law Sponsors Elementary School for The Sheridan Story to Help Fight Child Hunger

Current image: Packing Cans in Box Social

Last spring, our firm sponsored Cedar Ridge Elementary School for The Sheridan Story program, which provides nourishing weekend meals to children and families who do not have reliable access to food.

Food is gathered, packed and delivered to schools each week. Volunteers distribute the food discreetly at the end of the week by placing it in their backpacks while the children are not in the halls.

Approximately four to five pounds of food is provided directly to the children. The program distributes approximately 23,000 meals to children in the community every week.

The organization is committed to only using high-quality food to retain dignity for children and their families. They consulted dieticians and nutritionists from Allina Health and Saint Paul Public Schools to select healthy food. They purchase almost all their food from reputable food banks, wholesalers and manufacturers.

The risk of hunger in our community is very real, as more than 200,000 children in the state live with food insecurity. The Sheridan Story and its partners have sponsored 245 schools.

We are proud to sponsor a program that is making a difference in our community.

TSR Injury Law Donates to Minnesota Lynx Tickets for Kids Program

Current image: Fans at Basketball Arena Social

There are few live events that can match the excitement of a professional basketball game. Unfortunately, many young fans cannot afford to attend professional basketball games.

That is why the Minnesota Lynx created the Tickets for Kids program. The program distributes game tickets to approximately 200 organizations in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Iowa and the Dakotas.

Our firm proudly donated to the program earlier this year to help provide tickets for youth for the 2019 WNBA season.

MnFIRE Charity Golf Tournament

TSR Injury Law was a proud sponsor of the first annual MnFIRE Charity Golf tournament. Many of our clients meet firefighters as their first responders to a crash scene. Many have actually had their lives saved due to the fast response time.

MnFIRE is dedicated to providing Minnesota’s firefighters with the tools they need to prioritize and protect their health. Cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of firefighters nationwide and is by far the leading (officially tracked) cause of line-of-duty deaths in the fire service. Firefighters also suffer from cancer and emotional trauma at rates that are more than double the general public. Despite being the 21st most populous state, Minnesota currently ranks only 45th in the nation in per-capita fire service spending. MnFIRE is committed to bridging this gap for firefighters and their families. Over $50,000.00 was raised at the tournament. The funds will ensure a 24/7 crisis call center for firefighters. Whether PTSD or suicide crisis, the caller will always be able to seek immediate support and help. The funds also support training for firefighters on cancer prevention.
